Postural control in children receiving intervention using the Astronaut Training Protocol

ABSTRACT INTRODUCTION: The vestibular system plays an important role in postural control and upright posture when seated at a table. Some children have difficulty with their in-seat resulting increased movement. This research investigated the effect of Astronaut Training Protocol on child's processing control, by extension behaviour METHOD: A case study design multiple data sources was used four participants identified presenting dysfunction Data were collected over three phases: Pre-Astronaut (Baseline), Post-Astronaut (Intervention) Withdrawal. Withdrawal phases consisted sessions sensory-based occupational therapy while intervention phase included eight addition to regular therapy. Four assessments determine changes each phase: Movement ABC one-leg balance, Post-rotary Nystagmus (PRN) test, assessment (designed for purpose this study), movement through collection using accelerometer RESULTS: Participants' scores differed, depending initial ability tolerate rotary input. showed that change function differed who could input those over-reactive start study. Generally, greater improvement continued smaller improvements into phase.
